On July 31st, 2014, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a body found in a wooded area east of the 2800 block of North Cherry Street in Spokane Valley.
Deputies arrived and secured the area and Spokane County Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives were called to the scene. The deceased is described as a black male and believed to be in his 40s or 50s. Investigators at the scene found no obvious signs of trauma.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office will attempt to determine the cause/manner of death as well as an identity of the man during an autopsy which will be completed at a later time.
Because this is an unattended death and it is unknown if foul play is involved, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives will work with the Medical Examiner’s Office and provide assistance as needed.
This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
