Undersheriff Dave Ellis started his law enforcement career with the Post Falls Police Department in 1998. During that time he worked as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, and as a member of the SWAT team. He was awarded the Officer of the Year award in 2000.
In 2002, Undersheriff Ellis joined the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. During that time, he has worked as a Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, the Regional Training Coordinator, Lead Patrol Procedures Instructor, Academy TAC Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Traffic Unit Sergeant, as well as Tactical Flight Officer and supervisor of the Air Support Unit.
Undersheriff Ellis currently oversees the Sheriff’s Office Patrol, Investigative, and Intelligence Divisions, as well as the aviation, dive, and water rescue teams.
During his career with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, he has been awarded the Life Saving Medal, Unit Merit award, and the Sheriff’s Star award.
Undersheriff Ellis also serves as the Western Region Director for the Airborne Public Safety Association, serving the west coast of the Unites States and all of Asia. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
