As the Director of Business Operations,
Christopher Wiese has oversight of a $68.5 million budget for the
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
This budget encompasses just over $35.2 million for Detention
Services operations at both the Geiger facility and the Downtown Jail.
Included within these efforts is an emphasis to provide an extensive
range of programs to include both in and out-of-custody programs that
are targeted at reducing recidivism. The other $33.2 million supports
the law enforcement divisions of Patrol, Investigations, Air 1 Support
Unit and Civil for both rural county and contracted cities, the largest
being Spokane Valley.
Christopher began his service at Spokane County in 2002 as an
Accountant in the Auditor’s Office, and was then later promoted to
Senior Accountant. In 2005 he was selected for the Finance Manager,
Geiger Corrections Center. His financial responsibilities would later
expand to the operations involving the Downtown Jail after Sheriff
Knezovich assumed responsibilities over all of Detention Services,
including Geiger, in 2010.
In addition to government, Christopher has provided accounting and
financial leadership for many different industries over the past twenty
years including manufacturing, timber and medical facilities. His
dedication to listening and assisting staff with ideas reinforces his
commitment to respectfully challenge and support them. This provides a
constant improvement in processes and emphasizes efficiencies throughout
both Detention Services and the Sheriff’s Patrol divisions.
Christopher has been married for 16 years to a wonderful and
understanding wife and has two energetic boys. As a pilot, he holds a
Commercial Multi-engine with Instrument rating. Hobbies include dirt
bikes and watching his boys play hockey, baseball and soccer.
