Road Construction and Maintenance Update

October 30 - November 9, 2020

  
SPOKANE COUNTY, October 30, 2020 – As the clocks "fall back" one hour this weekend, more of us will be driving in the dark. Please remember to slow down in construction zones and watch for crews.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Geiger Blvd – Soda to Grove Rd
Geiger Blvd. is CLOSED from Soda to Electric – however local businesses remain open. The project includes new drywells, asphalt, signing and pavement markings. Completed: 11/30/2020.
   Geiger Bv: from Soda Rd to Spokane City Limits (Electric Ave)
   Motorists should use an alternate route. Electric Avenue is open. Thomas Mallon is open. Please slow down and use extreme caution when travelling inside the work zone.
 
Pine Bluff Bridge #2609
Crew is stabilizing the Coulee Creek slopes below the bridge, installing short cast-in-place concrete walls that are anchored to the bedrock at the base of the slopes, placing shotcrete on the slopes with soil/rock anchors, and anchoring the habitat. Completed: 11/30/2020.
   Pine Bluff Rd: from Seven Mile Rd to Carlson Rd
   Motorists should expect delays in both directions and all lanes, slow down and watch for flaggers.

PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT

Installation of New Primary Pole
Avista is installing a new primary pole on the east side of Liberty Lake Road approximately 200-feet sound of Shoreline Drive. Completed: 10/30/2020.
   Liberty Lake Rd: from Shoreline Drive to Shoreline Drive
   There will lane restriction in both directions with a typical one-lane closure. Motorists should slow down and watch for flaggers.
 
Rockwood at Whitworth – Phase 1
Rockwood at Whitworth – Phase 1 will include rough and fine grading, sewer and water installation, utilities, storm drainage, driveway, sidewalk, curb and gutter installation. Completed: 10/23/2020.
   Hawthorne Rd: from Mayberry Dr to Mayberry Dr
   Expect lane restrictions westbound and shoulder. The sidewalk is also closed.
 
Water Main Installation
Beginning on November 2, 2020, crews will be installing a water main on Howe Rd to the east of McKinnon Rd. Completed: 11/09/2020.
Howe St: from Lowe Rd to Day-Mt Spokane Rd
Road Closed: 5 DAY CLOSURE WITH DETOURS
 
ROAD MAINTENANCE
(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)

Culvert Repair Work on Monroe Rd at Woolard Rd
Culvert repair work on Monroe Road at the intersection of Wollard Road. Completed: 11/05/2020.
   Monroe Rd: from Woolard Rd to Woolard Rd.
   Motorists should expect lane restrictions in both directions. Please slow down and watch for flaggers.
 
Euclid Rd Bridge Closure
Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Replacing the bridge is the    responsibility of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
   Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 Over BNSF to Lyons Rd
   Road Closed – Euclid Rd Bridge Closure
 
Throughout Spokane County crews are repairing potholes and sweeping.
