Recycling Poster Contest Celebrates 20 Years

Deadline for Student Artwork is October 11, 2019

SPOKANE COUNTY, September 13, 2019We’re celebrating 20 years and – Let’s Recycle Right!  (Here’s how…). That’s the theme of this year’s 2019 Spokane County Recycles Poster Contest, which is also the 20th anniversary of the program. This year, we’re asking students (kindergarten-8th grade) to submit their artwork – and advice – on how to keep contamination out of our recyclables.

The contest is sponsored by the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System. Students in grades k-8 and live in jurisdictions that participate in the regional system, are invited to submit their creative interpretations of this year’s theme “Let’s Recycle Right! (Here’s how…)”. 13 winners will be selected to illustrate the county’s 2020 Spokane County Recycles calendar.

In addition, finalists will have their work displayed in River Park Square from Oct. 28 through Nov. 15 as part of America Recycles Day, a national celebration that takes place November 15.  The student artists will also be recognized at the November meeting of the Board of Spokane County Commissioners.

Contest Deadline:  Friday, October 11
Posters must be on letter-sized paper, oriented horizontally, and done in colored pencils, markers, or crayons; no 3-D collages accepted. Other rules and a registration form can be obtained at www.spokanecountysolidwaste.org or by calling 625-6580.
