UPDATE: Suspect Identified and Arrested

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives investigating this incident identified the suspect as 32-year-old Joshua D. Trudeau and determined probable cause existed for his arrest.

With the assistance of Spokane Police Officers and K9 Unit, Trudeau was located and arrested last night.  Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives interviewed Trudeau before booking him into the Spokane County Jail for Burglary 1st Degree, Residential Burglary, Robbery 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.

This is another excellent example of multiple agencies and units working together to identify, locate, and arrest, violent offenders as we work to hold them accountable and keep our community safe.

UPDATE: Stolen Vehicle Located Abandon

Thanks to an alert citizen, the stolen Hyundai was recovered in the area of Atlantic and Lyons just before midnight.  The citizen recognized the vehicle after seeing the information requesting assistance broadcast on the news and called immediately.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Spokane Police Officers quickly responded to the location.  The abandon vehicle was seized for processing of possible evidence that may assist detectives in identifying the suspect who has not been located at this time.

We would like to thank the citizens, news outlets and everyone on social media for helping get this information out leading to the rapid recovery of this vehicle and any potential evidence it may contain.

Major Crime Detectives Need Your Help

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives would like your help locating a silver 2016 Hyundai Veloster (similar to photo) with Washington license plates BEM8056. The vehicle was stolen earlier today by a suspect armed with a knife. If you see this vehicle call 911 immediately and do not approach the suspect as he is considered armed and dangerous.

Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred earlier this evening in the 9000 block of N. Country Homes Blvd.

The victim reported being approached by the suspect who was armed with a knife. The suspect demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.

The suspect, believed to be a male who ran on foot from deputies during a traffic stop in the area earlier this afternoon, held the victim in the victim’s residence while presumably waiting for deputies to clear the area.

The suspect fled the immediate area of this incident in an unknown direction of travel.

The victim was not injured but extremely frightened during this very dangerous incident as the suspect was not known to the victim.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, medium/muscular build, a shaved head and tattoos on his arms and neck.

This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has information regarding this incident or sees this vehicle is asked to call 911.

This is a current and active investigation, no further information is available at this time.
