Detectives Investigating Fatal Stabbing

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a reported stabbing in the 15600 block of W. Highway 2 in West Spokane County.  The adult female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  An adult male was detained a few minutes later in the area and is being questioned.

On June 4, 2017 at approximately 11:20 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by Airway Heights Police Officers, responded to a call where a female reported she had been stabbed before the call was disconnected.

At the location, Deputies located a female lying on the floor.  She was unconscious and bleeding.  She was provided immediate medical attention but was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female’s roommate stated he heard arguing coming from her room earlier but didn’t know she had been injured until he checked on her moments after she had already called 911.

Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to continue the investigation and will be conducting interviews and collecting evidence.  They do not believe there is a danger to the public stemming from this incident.

No further information is available at this early stage of this active investigation.  Further information will be provided when it is appropriate to do so.
