[ARCHIVED] Public's Tips Help Deputies Recovered Local Business’ Stolen Promotional Vehicle

Public's Tips Help Deputies Recovered Local Business’ Stolen Promotional Vehicle

Spokane Valley Deputies responded to reports of a stolen vehicle near the Spokane Valley Mall.  Deputies located the vehicle in the parking lot, and one adult male occupied it.   He was taken into custody and booked into jail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and a valid misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.

On November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:30 pm, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to tips regarding a stolen vehicle in the 14700 block of E. Indiana Avenue in Spokane Valley.  The truck was described as a bright green Ford Truck, used as a promotional truck by No-Li Brewery’s Big Juicy IPA, which was reported stolen in Spokane earlier in the morning.

Deputies arrived and were contacted by Mall Security, who advised the truck’s location, and it was occupied by one person.

Deputies pulled in behind the vehicle, with their emergency lights activated, and blocked any avenue of escape to the rear.  The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Justin J. Jaquith, followed commands and was safely taken into custody without incident.

Jaquith was advised of his rights and agreed to answer questions.  He stated earlier in the morning, he was at a friend’s house in the City of Spokane and heard a vehicle racing around the area.  Jaquith contacted the male driver and asked him about the truck and why he was treating it so poorly.  He then offered to buy the truck for $150, and the male accepted.   Jaquith did not get a bill of sale, admitted the deal was too good to be true, and should have known the vehicle was probably stolen.  He explained the logos had already been spray-painted.

Upon inspection, Deputies noted the driver’s door lock was damaged, pry marks were observed around the locking mechanism and door, the ignition was damaged, and a red can of spray paint was found inside the truck.

The victim arrived at the scene and took possession of the truck.  A surveillance video of the theft was observed, and it does not appear from the video that Jaquith is the initial theft suspect, although this has not been verified at this time.

Jaquith was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for his misdemeanor warrant (No Valid License & Operating a Vehicle w/o Valid Title) and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

A Spokane Police Officer contacted Jaquith at the jail as part of the stolen vehicle investigation.

The investigation into the actual vehicle theft continues, and additional arrests or charges are possible.
