Oregon Road Fire and Gray Road Fire: Disaster Assistance Center Opening

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.  Spokane County residents who were affected by the Oregon Road and Gray Road wildfires are invited to visit a county Disaster Assistance Center at 3305 West Whistalks Way, Spokane, WA, 99224, from noon to 6 p.m. beginning Friday, August 25.

People can pick up valuable information from agencies and organizations, including the state Employment Security Department (ESD), Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC), state Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), American Red Cross, Washington Volunteers Active in Disaster (WA VOAD), the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Salvation Army, and the Spokane Regional Health District. Aging and Long-Term Care of Eastern Washington (ALTCEW) representatives will be on site. ALTCEW helps older adults and adults living with disabilities learn about the resources needed to plan, prepare for, and support living independently. HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response will also be at the Disaster Assistance Center. HOPE AACR provides comfort in times of crisis through emotional support from specially trained dog and handler teams.

Volunteers at the center can assist people with interpreter and American Sign Language (ASL) services upon request. If you need accommodations to communicate, please notify a volunteer at the center immediately.

Spokane County continues to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to aid active response efforts and to help people in Spokane County jumpstart their recovery.
