Vehicle/Train Collision on N. Lynden Road, South of Wellesley Avenue in Otis Orchards
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit Technicians are investigating a train/vehicle collision on N. Lynden Road, south of E. Wellesley Avenue. The vehicle, a Spokane County Public Works truck, was occupied by a Spokane County employee. The employee was provided medical attention at the scene, and due to the severity of his injuries, he was transported to the hospital via a Life Flight helicopter. He continues to be evaluated, listed in critical but stable condition at last check.
On August 24, 2023, at approximately 10:45 am, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle/train collision on N. Lynden Road in Otis Orchards.
Deputies and Spokane Valley Fire Department arrived, with SVFD personnel providing immediate advanced life support medical services. The adult male occupant and Spokane County employee sustained what appeared to be life-threatening injuries and was transported by Life Flight to the hospital, where he continues to receive treatment and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Initial information indicates the Spokane County Public Works truck was traveling south on Lynden when the collision with the eastbound train occurred. The crossing does not have warning lights/arm or an audible warning but does have RR crossing signage and a stop sign.
No one on the train was injured.
Traffic Unit Investigators responded and continue to investigate this incident.
