Spokane County Treasurer Announces Agreement with Spokane-Based Fintech Company Treasury4

Spokane County, WA Treasurer Michael Baumgartner announced an agreement with Spokane-based treasury fintech startup Treasury4 for the County Treasurer’s Office to contract with the company for cash management and data analytics support.  The agreement is the first between Treasury4 and a government office.

The County Treasurer serves as Treasurer to Spokane County government and nearly eighty other regional public entities including school and fire districts, the Spokane International Airport, and Spokane Transit Authority. In addition to billing and collecting annual property taxes, the Treasurer provides banking and investment services for these same local governments. Guided by state law, the Treasurer safeguards local public funds in their custody, including maintaining banking relationships and overseeing cash management. The Treasurer’s Office also manages the nearly $1.7 billion Spokane Public Investment Fund.

The Treasury4 platform includes the Entity4 module which manages entity information and relationships, bank accounts, registration data, and organizational documents. The Cash4 module provides bank connectivity, daily consolidated balances, analytics, and insights that allow for enhanced cash management capabilities. Treasury4 is led by CEO Steve Helmbrecht, former CFO of Liberty Lake-based Itron, Inc.

“I’m excited to partner with Spokane-based Treasury4 and see value in the way their solutions will help our office safeguard and invest public funds,” said Michael Baumgartner, Treasurer of Spokane County. “It’s great to have a leading financial technology startup company creating jobs right in our backyard.”

The initial agreement allows for an evaluation period to integrate the County Treasurer’s existing banking and cashflow data with Treasury4’s solutions.

"We are delighted for this opportunity to provide the County Treasurer with innovative technology to help unlock deeper insights from their treasury data and further their objectives," said Steve Helmbrecht.

The Treasurer of Spokane County collects, safeguards, and invests public funds on behalf of Spokane County and nearly 80 regional government entities. For more information on Treasury4, visit www.treasury4.com.
