Crews Widen Roads and Apply Deicer in Advance of Storm

SPOKANE COUNTY, December 8, 2022 – Another winter storm arrives later today and will bring several-inches of fresh snow (4-8 inches and possibly 12 inches at higher elevations) by Friday morning.  Today, crews continue working long hours to widen plowed roads and apply deicer throughout Spokane County, which has the largest county road system in the State of Washington (5,100+ lane miles).

As snow begins to fall, crews will shift to keeping the county’s Priority One roads (emergency routes and major arterials) clear.  With the storm continuing into Friday morning and more snow expected on Saturday, crews will be working through the weekend to finish plowing and sanding the Priority One and Two roads.

Keep in mind that every time we receive a significant snowfall, our crews must refocus their efforts on the Priority One and Two Routes.  The public’s understanding and patience is appreciated.
