
One-Vehicle Fatal Crash on N. Government Way
Spokane County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit Investigators remain at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover fatal crash on N. Government Way, north of W. Greenwood Road. The adult male driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt, and he was ejected and later pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male passenger, also believed to not be wearing a seat belt, sustained what appeared to be minor injuries and was treated/released at the scene.
On November 22, 2022, at approximately 7:15 am. Spokane County Deputies responded to the report of a rollover crash on N. Government Way near W. Greenwood Road. The initial information indicated one male was trapped under the vehicle and was severely injured.
With the assistance of Spokane Police Officers, Deputies closed N. Government Way, and assessed the scene.
Witnesses advised the Ford truck was recklessly traveling north on Government Way at high speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle just north of W. Greenwood Road, crossed over the centerline, rolled, and struck a tree.
The adult male driver, not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and was pinned underneath once it came to rest. Arriving medical personnel pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
The adult male passenger, also not wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene and released for what appeared to be minor injuries.
The Spokane County Traffic Unit responded and is investigating this deadly incident. SIRT Team volunteers also responded to assist with traffic control.
Reckless driving, speed, and failure to wear seat belts are all factors believed to be in the deadly crash. Impairment is a possible factor, but that will be determined at a later time as the investigation continues.
Government Way is now open to traffic, but Investigators are still in the area. Please continue to use caution in the area.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Officer will release the name of the decedent, along with cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
