County Crews Plowing and Sanding in all Four Road Districts
SPOKANE COUNTY, November 7, 2022 – The first significant snowstorm of the season has blanketed Spokane County in up to two inches of snow – and it’s still coming down. This morning, Spokane County road crews are focused on plowing and sanding emergency routes and major arterials in all four road districts. Andy Schenk, Administrator of the Roads Operations and Maintenance Division, said with a forecast high of only 28-degress today, conditions will remain very icy. “I call this Seattle snow. It’s wet, heavy, and traffic turns it into a sheet of ice. With even colder temperatures expected over the next few days, motorists need to slow down and be patient,” Schenk said.
Public Works has a total of 74 pieces of winter maintenance equipment working to clear the road system, which is the largest county road system in the State of Washington (5,100+ lane miles).
