ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Bigelow Gulch Rd - Phase 6

Improvements to Bigelow Gulch Road include clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, borrow, embankment compaction, precast concrete drywells, culverts, pedestrian tunnel, structure excavation, illumination system. Completed: October 31, 2022.

Forker Rd
: from Bigelow Gulch Rd to Progress Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Progress Road open at Bigelow Gulch/Forker Road. Open at Progress Road – use as detour. Intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open with four-way stop signs. Outside lanes are closed.

Progress Rd
: from Wellesley Av to Spokane Valley City Limits
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Progress Road from the intersection of Progress and Bigelow Gulch – to the intersection of Crown and Progress. Use detour route.

Sullivan Rd
: from Upland Dr & Ct to Wellesley Av
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). The intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open with four-way stop signs. Outside lanes are closed.
 
Sullivan Rd: from Wellesley Av to north City Limits of Spokane Valley
Sullivan Road is CLOSED from the intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan Road to the City limits
 
Wellesley Av: from Progress Rd to Tolford Rd
The intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open. Slow down and watch for flaggers.
 
Elk Chattaroy Road-Laurel Road to Drew Lane
Preparation of existing roadway for placement of HMA overlay along with tree clearing, crushed surfacing shouldering, traffic control, signing, striping and other work. Completed: November 30, 2022.

Elk-Chattaroy Rd: from Laurel Rd to Drew Ln
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). There may be possible lane closures. Please slow down, watch for flaggers and wait for the pilot car to guide you through the project.
 
Euclid Road Bridge
Removing and constructing new bridge and road approaches; including asphalt pavement, signing, striping, erosion control, filter drain, beam guardrail, and miscellaneous structures. Project start TBD/tentatively begins in late October 2022.
Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 over Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks to Lyons Rd. Road Closed: Bridge is closed. Use Detour.

Little Spokane Connection Road and Separated Pathway
Crews will construct a separated, shared-use path with HMA. The project will include a crushed rock surface, roadway excavation, embankment compaction, concrete curbing, culvert pipe, ditch excavation, temporary erosion, sediment and traffic control. Completed: September 30, 2022.

Wandermere Rd: from Little Spokane Dr Connection to Dartford Dr
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Local access only.

Northeast Spokane County Rumble Strip Project
This contract provides for the improvement of Argonne Rd., Bruce Rd., Forker Rd. and Moffatt Rd. by adding rumble strips, flexible guideposts, and guardrail reflectors, etc. Dates: September 30 to October 31, 2022.

Argonne Rd: from Columbia Dr to Bruce Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Motorists may experience some delays. Slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.

Bruce Rd: from SR-206 (Mt Spokane Park Dr) to Stoneman Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Motorists may experience some delays. Slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.

Forker Rd: from Morrison Rd to SR-206 (Mt Spokane Park Dr)
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Motorists may experience some delays. Slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.

Moffat Rd: from Forker Rd to Peone Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Motorists may experience some delays. Slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.

Sunset Hwy Bridge Removal.

The removal of the existing bridge and restoration of the creek banks on N. Fork Deep Creek. The project includes the bridge removal, creek diversion, and streambed gravel. Completed: October 28, 2022.

Comcast Proposes Aerial and Underground Fiber Installation (sub. Sefnco)

Comcast proposes overlash 48-ct Fiber to existing stand (8 poles), 952LF Bore and place conduit w/48-ct Fiber. Regal Road from 57th Ave to north of Spokane City Limits. Dates: September 26 to October 7, 2022.
 
Regal Rd: from 55th Ave to 57th Ave
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Traffic restricted to one lane.
 
Gas Service – Bellhole Cut
Calispel closed from Price Ave to Kedlin Court for Avista natural gas service installation. Dates: September 27 to October 4, 2022.

Calispel St: from Price Av to Kedlin Court
Road Closed – use detour route.
 
The Marjorie at Aspen Park
ACI Northwest Inc. is installing a fire hydrant and connecting it to a water main. Completed: September 30, 2022.

57th Av: from Spotted Rd to Spotted Rd
Road Closed – use detour route.

Utility Service – AVISTA
Avista crew is installing natural gas service on the west side of Dishman-Mica Road, north of Mohawk Drive at 5216 S. Dishman-Mica Road. Completed: October 23, 2022.
 
Dishman-Mica Rd: from Mohawk Dr to Spokane Valley City Limits
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists will encounter a one-lane road with flaggers.  

Utility Service – Avista

Avista crew is stringing wire across Hastings Road for temporary construction power. Dates: September 26-30, 2022.

Hastings Rd: from Mill Rd to Bellwood Dr
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists should expect westbound and eastbound right-lane closures with flaggers directing traffic.


Utility Service – Avista – No Asphalt Cuts
Avista crew is installing a new wooden light pole on the southeast corner of 7621 N. Altamont St. Dates: September 26-30, 2022.

Altamont St: from Houghton Av to Lincoln Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). There will be one-lane, two-way traffic control with flaggers directing traffic.

Apply asphalt over large areas of roadway for preservation. Completed: September 29, 2022 – unless otherwise noted.

Half Moon Rd
: from US-395 to Perry Rd
Lane restrictions and expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present. Completed: September 27, 2022.

Little Spokane Dr
: from Perry Rd to Woolard Rd
Lane restrictions and expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present. Dates: September 28-29, 2022.

Perry Rd 
: from Little Spokane Dr to Half Moon Rd
Lane restrictions and expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present. Completed: September 28, 2022.

Woolard Rd 
: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Little Spokane Dr
Lane restrictions and expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present. Dates: September 28-29, 2022.

Crack Sealing

Application of a flexible sealant in cracks to prevent further break up on asphalt roads. Dates: September 26-29, 2022.

Waikiki Rd: from Mill Rd to Five Mile Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Slow down and watch for flaggers.

Market St
: from Hawthorne Rd to Farwell Rd
Expect lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Slow down and watch for flaggers.

Ditch cleaning/shouldering
Watch for workers on the edge of the roadway. Dates: September 26-29, 2022.

Miner Rd: from SR-206 (Mt Spokane Park Dr) to East End Of Road
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes) and flaggers may be present.

Elliott Rd : from SR-206 (Mt Spokane Park Dr) to North End Of Road
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes) and flaggers may be present.
 
Rebuild & Adding Permanent Gravel
Adding and processing gravel to build up road surface. Completed: October 6, 2022.

Depot Springs Rd: from Cheney-Spangle Rd to Short Rd
Road Closed to through traffic only, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Graham Rd: from SR-904 to Salnave Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes) and flaggers may be present.
 
Storm Washout Repair
Adding material along shoulders and ditches to prevent future washouts. Completed: October 6, 2022.

Jackson Rd: from Cameron Rd to Wright Rd
Road closed to through traffic only, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
 
Street Sweeping/Weed Spraying
As the weather permits crews are sweeping streets to remove gravel and reduce the amount of airborne dust, spraying roadside weeds, and crack sealing. Please slow down in work zones and watch for crews.
