The Republican Precinct Committee Officer contest for Precinct 4428 ended in a tie between the two candidates for the August 2, 2022 Primary Election. A mandatory hand recount was conducted. The results remained unchanged and the recount was certified by the Spokane County Canvassing Board.
To break the 78-78 tie, a lot draw took place on Monday, August 29th at the Spokane County Elections Office. A numbered ball was assigned to each candidate and placed in a plastic milk bottle. The bottle was shaken and a ball was drawn to determine the winner between Foster A. Hockett Jr. and Sonya Coates. The winner, by lot, is Foster A. Hockett Jr.
