Armed Robbery Suspect Quickly Located and Arrested

Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a reported armed robbery at 7-11 on N. Park Road.   Deputies located the suspect in the park just north of the store and took him into custody.  He was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Robbery 1st Degree and misdemeanor warrants.

On August 8, 2022, at approximately 7:55 pm, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of an armed robbery at 7-11, located at 722 N. Park Road.

The caller stated a male pulled a knife on the store employee after stealing some items.   He noted the suspect was last seen northbound on foot.  He described the suspect as a white male, 35-45 years old, with long hair, wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans.

Deputy J. Korpi arrived in the area within minutes and observed a male sitting on a curb inside the park, matching the robbery suspect's description.  The male, later identified as 48-year-old Shawn M. Moller, began to walk away as Deputy Korpi drove toward him.

Deputy Korpi gave Moller verbal commands to stop and show his hands.  Moller complied and then sat down on the ground, reached into his pocket, pulled out a knife, and tossed it to the side.

Once Deputy W. Goode arrived to assist, they took Moller into custody without incident.   A check of Moller’s name revealed he had two active warrants for his arrest (#1-Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree DV, #2-Harrassment & Indecent Exposure).

Information learned during the investigation showed Moller left the store without paying for some merchandise.  The store clerk/victim confronted Moller in the parking lot, where Moller pulled out a black folding pocketknife and told the victim to back up.  The victim called for someone to call 911 as he backed away from Moller.  The victim was not injured during the incident.

Moller was confirmed as the robbery suspect, and he was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Robbery 1st Degree and his warrants.
