UPDATE: Suspect of Fatal Shooting on E. Montgomery Arrested

 

Through the ongoing investigation, Spokane Valley Major Crimes Detectives identified 29-year-old Shayne R. Galloway as the suspect in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Joseph B. Quinn on February 6, 2022, in the 9300 block of E. Montgomery.   

 

Detectives established probable cause to charge Galloway with Murder 1st Degree, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.  

 

On April 22, 2022, at approximately 5:30 pm., with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, Major Crimes Detectives learned Galloway was possibly staying in a room at the Days Inn Suites, 1215 S. Garfield Road.

 

Due to the serious and violent nature of the charge, SWAT Team members were called to assist.  Galloway was located inside one of the rooms and was taken into custody without incident.    

 

Later that evening, he was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Murder 1st Degree with a bond set at $1,000,000.  He is also being held on two additional unrelated felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree.

 

This remains an active investigation, and additional charges/arrests are possible.

UPDATE: Victim Identified – Fatal Shooting on E. Montgomery

 

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal shooting on February 6, 2022, in the 9300 block of E. Montgomery as 34-year-old Joseph B. Quinn. 

 

Major Crime Detectives continue to investigate this incident as they work to identify the suspect(s) responsible and what led up to this fatal and violent encounter. 

 

Anyone with information regarding Quinn’s activities prior to this shooting or can provide tips to help Major Crimes Detectives identify the suspect(s) responsible for his death is urged to call Major Crime Detective Dean Meyer 509-477-3159, reference #10015056.

Press Release for February 7, 2022: 

 

UPDATE: Investigation into Fatal Shooting Continues


 Spokane Valley Major Crimes Detectives continue to investigate last night’s fatal shooting in the 9300 block of E. Montgomery Avenue. 

 

Arriving Deputies provided immediate medical attention (chest seal and CPR) to the adult male victim until they were relieved by Spokane Valley Fire and AMR personnel. Despite these life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

An extensive search for the suspect, including Spokane Regional Air Support Unit’s Air 2 and UAS Teams, along with two K-9 Units, was unsuccessful, and no arrests have been made. 

 

Witnesses contacted during the investigation reported seeing a person flee the scene just after the gunshots were heard, but it is not known if the male was involved in the incident. He was described as a white male, possibly 6’00”, skinny, wearing dark clothing. 

 

Bullets struck two apartments near the area of the shooting. Other than the victim, no one inside the apartments or anyone else in the area reported being injured.

 

Major Crimes Detectives, Forensic Unit Technicians, and RIG-9 Analysts continued the investigation well into the evening as they documented the scene, collected evidence, and tried to locate any video that would help Investigators identify a suspect(s) or determine what occurred. 

 

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent at a later time, when appropriate.

Major Crimes Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting 

 

Spokane Valley Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Spokane Valley. Despite life-saving efforts by Deputies and arriving medical personnel, the male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene remains active as efforts to locate the suspect(s) continues

 

On February 6, 2022, at approximately 6:00 pm., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of gunshots in the 9300 block of E. Montgomery Avenue. Callers reported hearing yelling or arguing prior to multiple gunshots and seeing a possible suspect fleeing the area on foot.

 

Arriving Deputies located a male victim and began life-saving aid until they were relieved by medical personnel, but unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

A perimeter was established, and Deputies began a search for a suspect, but at this time, one has not been located. 

 

Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to continue the investigation. 

 

This remains an active scene. No additional information is available at this time.
