SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Board of Spokane County Commissioners have closed on a purchase and sales agreement for a County owned property located at and adjacent to 312 West 8th Avenue to JP Spokane VIII, LLC / JP Spokane VII, LLC.
The 8th Avenue property was previously occupied by Spokane County Community Services, Housing, & Community Development (CSHCD).
The sale of the 8th Avenue property is part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioners to reduce operating costs for the County and assess the ongoing need to occupy certain County-owned properties. The Commissioners determined that the 8th Avenue property was being underutilized by the County and that it was financially prudent to sell the property to a third party, thus benefiting the County taxpayers through sales proceeds from the facility and the addition of it to the County property tax rolls.
As part of the $4.9 Million agreement, which includes the land, buildings, and some business-related equipment, the Board of County Commissioners also executed a memorandum of understanding that allows for CSHCD to continue to occupy one floor of the 8th Avenue property for a transition period through Sept. 30, 2022. After that date, CSHCD will move operations to spaces sized more appropriately for their programs in the community.
As announced last month, the Spokane Regional Health District approved a lease agreement to move their opioid treatment services program from the health district building downtown to the building at 312 West 8th Avenue.
