
Suspect Arrested for Assault 1st Degree
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the report of an assault between two patients at Eastern State Hospital. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree. The victim was transported to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries and a check earlier today showed the victim was still listed in critical condition.
On March 17, 2022, at approximately 9:30 am., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Eastern State Hospital for the report of an assault. Hospital staff reported that two patients had been involved in a physical fight. The suspect, 24-year-old Martay L. Ellis, had been detained by staff, and the victim had been transported to the hospital.
Arriving Deputies learned the two patients got into some type of an argument that quickly escalated. Staff responded and separated them, detained the suspect, and promptly provided medical aid to the victim.
The victim was transported to the hospital for potentially life-threatening injuries and a check earlier today showed him still listed in critical condition.
Ellis was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree, where he remains with his bond set at $750,000.
This remains an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
