[ARCHIVED] Commissioners Pass 2022 County Budget

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – After a public hearing for the 2022 Spokane County Budget, the Spokane County Board of Commissioners passed a balanced budget for 2022.

The Commissioners followed a process, laid out in a resolution passed in 2017 to provide more transparency to the public about the Spokane County budget, which involved opportunities for public testimony on staff presentations and proposals.

Through this process, the Commissioners worked with Budget staff to find ways to maximize every taxpayer dollar the County is entrusted with. This budget maintains and increases valuable services without creating undue hardships on taxpayers for 2022. This is a balanced budget that invests in public safety, successfully delivers essential services, and advances important community infrastructure projects.

Some highlights of the 2022 Spokane County Budget include the addition of 19 patrol deputy positions and 2 major crime detectives to the Sheriff’s Department. The budget also included significant improvements to major Spokane County roadways such as the Bigelow Gulch Road Project and Euclid Road Bridge Replacement. In addition, the Spokane County Budget also provides funding for planned improvements to Spokane County Parks, such as Liberty Lake Regional Park, conservation futures properties, and Spokane County’s three public golf courses.
