We Need Your Help for this year’s Holidays and Heroes
Holidays & Heroes Food/Donation Drive
With everything that has occurred in the last couple of years, families in our area are struggling, and we need your help now more than ever.
If you are able, please drop off a donation at this year’s annual Holidays & Heroes Food Drive at Barney’s Harvest Food, 11205 E. Dishman Mica Road in Spokane Valley, this Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Your monetary or food donation will help us help local families in need this holiday season.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Explorers will be at Barney’s to accept donations this Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, collecting donations to make Christmas wishes for local families come true.
Monetary donations can be dropped off at the Spokane Valley Precinct Front Desk (12710 E. Sprague) or the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Front Desk (1100 W. Mallon) Monday-Friday (except holidays) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm until December 1, 2021. (Check or Money Order to Spokane County Sheriff’s Explorers with Holidays and Heroes 2021 in the subject line)
Holidays & Heroes is an annual program where Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Explorers, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Spokane Valley Deputies, and Spokane County Detention Services Officers help local families in need. Through our local schools, we identify families in need of help during Christmas and over the Holidays.
Unfortunately, we will still need to follow COVID guidelines as we did last year, eliminating our large multiagency gathering while wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
Uniformed Deputies/Officers will still pick up our child partners in a patrol car but in smaller groups to shop for presents (clothing & toys) for their family throughout the morning and early afternoon on December 5, 2021, at Walmart in E. Broadway. A “special shopper” will keep an eye out for gifts for the child along the way. Small presents are purchased for family members, with the shopping emphasis focused on the child and their sibling(s).
After shopping, a hopefully very delighted child, presents, and food boxes will be loaded into the patrol cars and brought home to their family.
With the community's help, local business/credit unions, and other donations, along with the Spokane County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, we provide food, gifts, and toys for approximately 30 local families.
Please stop by Barney’s Harvest Food this Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. and help us help those in need in our community.
In Kootenai County, our Holidays and Heroes partners will be shopping with their children partners to ensure North Idaho families in need will have a blessed, happy, and wonderful Holiday Season.
