ROAD CONSTRUCTION


57th Ave- Perry St. to Mt. Vernon Rd. 
 
Constructing ADA ramps, median island construction, HMA grinding and paving. Lane Closures & narrow lanes - use alternate route. Completed: early October.

 

Bigelow Gulch Phase 3
Road Reconstruction (remove and replace), culverts, stormwater, guardrail and illumination system. Completed: August 31, 2021. 

Weile Ave: from Thierman Rd to Bigelow Gulch Rd 

Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, both lanes). Road is OPEN!

 

Bigelow Gulch Rdfrom Weile Ave to Argonne Rd

Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, both lanes). Road is OPEN!

 

Chattaroy CTB
 Crews are pulverizing the existing pavement and using Portland cement Type 2, spreading and mixing and other work. Completed: August 31, 2021.

From US2 to Elk-Chattaroy/Hardesty Intersection.

Motorists should expect delays. Flaggers and a pilot car may be present. Please slow-down in the work zone.

 

Columbia Dr- Northwood to Argonne
 
Roadway Excavation, ADA ramp installation, Pavement removal and repaving. Lane Closures and flagging. Full closure to through traffic in September. Look for signage and watch for updates. Completed: early October.
 

Forker Road Culvert Replacement - 1/2 mile South of SR206

The culvert under the road is being replaced and a modular steel bridge installed. Completed: September 3, 2021.

Frideger Road Bridge Replacement
 The road is CLOSED while the existing bridge is being removed for the construction of a new structure over the Little Spokane River. The project includes the removal of the existing roadway and widening with the construction of the new roadway. Completed: October 31, 2021.

Frideger Rd: from Bridge #4902 Over Little Spokane River to Bridge #4902 Over Little Spokane River – Road is CLOSED – Bridge OUT!
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Detour route in place on Bridges Road, Madison Road and Frideger Road. 

 

Guardrail Safety Project 
 Crews are installing new guardrails at the locations below. Completed: August 31, 2021.

 

Old SR-195 Hwy: from Bridge #3112 Over Pine Creek & BNSF to County Pit #13-22
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project is from Mile Post 2.2 to Mile Post 3.1 


Williams Lake Rd: from Mullinix Rd to Weisman Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project area is Mile Post .90 to 1.72. 


Valley Chapel Rd: from Palouse Hy to Bridge Over Stevens Creek
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): This is not the EXACT location. Project is from Mile Post .25 to Mile Post .90


Cheney-Plaza Rd: from Rock Lake Rd to Pine Grove Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project location is Mile Post 10.4 to Mile Post 12.5.


PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT

 

Install and Maintain an Overhead Electric Distribution Line
 Inland Power and Light (509-747-7151) crew is installing an overhead electric line over Staley Road. The line will originate from an existing pole on the north side of Staley Rd and extend south onto private property. Completed: September 1, 2021.

Staley Road: from Monroe Rd to Monroe Rd 
Motorists should slow-down and watch for flaggers in both directions and all lanes.

 

Install and Maintain an Overhead Electric Distribution Line
 Inland Power and Light (509-747-7151) crew is installing an overhead electric line over Laurel Road. The line will originate from an existing pole on the north side of Staley Rd and extend south onto private property. Completed: September 13, 2021.

Madison Road: from Laurel Rd to Laurel Rd 
Motorists should slow-down and watch for flaggers in both directions and all lanes on both Laurel Rd and Madison Rd.

 

Repair Gas Service
 Avista (800-227-9187) crew is repairing gas service on the south side of Upriver Drive and east of Argonne Road. Completed: September 24, 2021.

Upriver Dr: from Argonne Rd to Willow Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): East-bound lane shift and sidewalk closure. Road Closed: Hayford Rd is closed at Richland – detours are in place: Westbow to Aero Rd. and Melville to Thomas Mallen. 

 

SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
 Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna east of Dorset Road on the north side of Strong Rd. Dates: August 30 to September 6, 2021. 

Strong Rd: from Dorset Rd to Prescott Rd 
Motorists should watch for flaggers (both directions, all lanes).

 

Underground COAX Installation
 Sefnco Communications (800-385-2903) crew is installing an underground COAX Cable just south of Baade Road on the east side of Perry Road. Completed: August 27, 2021.

Perry Rd: from Baade Rd to Burk Rd 
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Please slow-down in the work zone.

 

ROAD MAINTENANCE

(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)


Asphalt Overlay Elk-Chattaroy Road 
 Overlay is a paving method of applying a new layer of asphalt to a deteriorating surface. Completed: September 2, 2021.

Elk-Chattaroy Rd: from Nelson Rd to Elk-Camden Rd 
Motorists should expect delays in both directions and all lanes. Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers.

 

Chip Seal - Various Roads in Spokane County 
 Chip Seal is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. Completed: August 31, 2021..

 

West Newman Lake Dr: from Muzzy Rd to Starr Rd             
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers and pilot cars.

 

Whitworth Dr: from US-395 to Hawthorne Rd 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers and pilot cars. 

 

Westmoreland Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Cedar Rd 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers-pilot cars.

 

Hawthorne Rd: from Market St to Parksmith Dr 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers-pilot cars.

 

Strong Rd: from Spokane City Limits to Spokane City Limits          
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to stop and watch for flaggers-pilot cars.


Temple Rd: from Norman Rd to Forker Rd 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to Stop and watch for flaggers-pilot cars.


Crack Sealing on Various Asphalt Roads
 Crack sealing with hot asphalt helps to preserve the road surface. Completed: September 2, 2021.


Granite Lake Rd: from Medical Lake-Four Lakes Rd to End Gravel/Start Pavement
There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Please slow-down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.  

 

Medifor Rd: from Medical Lake-Four Lakes Rd to Taylor Rd

There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Please slow-down in the work zone and watch for flaggers. 

 

Taylor Rd: from Medifor Rd to East End of Road

There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Please slow-down in the work zone and watch for flaggers. 

 

Euclid Rd Bridge CLOSED
 Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Replacing the bridge is the responsibility of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. 

Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 Over BNSF to Lyons Rd

Shoulder Preservation on Grove Road
 Crews will grade and add gravel to build up the sides of the road on the gravel shoulder. Completed: September 2, 2021.  

Grove Rd: from Hallett Rd to Cheney-Spokane Rd 

Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Motorists should slow-down in the work

zone and watch for flaggers.
