[ARCHIVED] Building & Planning Announces Expanded Online Building Permits

SPOKANE COUNTY, July 6, 2021 – Through Building & Planning’s updated and enhanced portal (Here), customers will be guided through the complete process for any building permit. For those seeking a permit, after clicking the “Apply for a Permit” button, the site will walk through an entire submittal checklist, including any documents need to upload.  Once the checklist confirms submittal is complete, one click sends the submittal to all relevant departments for direct review, and the applicant will receive confirmation of submittal.

“Where’s my permit” is usually the next question that follows a submittal.  An applicant can review the status of their project in real time to see what reviews are completed or pending. Building & Planning is also scanning and digitally archiving all land and permit records to expedite the permitting process.

These enhanced web services allow Spokane County’s Building & Planning Service Center to completely serve customers’ needs while remodeling its offices to modernize and streamline processes which are temporarily closed to the public until August 9.  During this time, Building and Planning staff are fully available to answer any questions.  Should a customer want to schedule a virtual appointment they may do so by filling out a contact form (Here) or by phone at (509) 477-3675.

Commenting on these new services, Spokane County Planning Director Scott Chesney stated, “Customer Service is paramount to our Building & Planning Department — our job is to help people build things. That is why we are reorganizing our office to better serve the needs of customers in Spokane County.”

James Moore, Spokane County Director of Building and Code Enforcement, added, “I think our customers will be excited about our fully online building permit experience and the enhancements we’re also making to the one-on-one experience. Our goal is to meet the customers evolving needs through increased efficiency and ease of engagement, which will be delivered by our team through the permitting process.”
