UPDATE: Investigation of Fatal Crash on Sprague Continues
Preliminary information from statements and evidence at the scene indicates the adult male driver (’60s) of a Chevy truck was traveling west on Sprague near S. Dyer Rd. and crossed over the centerline into the eastbound lanes of travel.
The Chevy collided with three vehicles (Ford F150, Porsche Macan, Toyota Camry) before finally coming to a stop.
When the condition of the driver of the Chevy truck was checked, he was not breathing. Citizens tried to render aid, and Spokane Valley Fire personnel arrived quickly to continue the attempt to save the man’s life. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
From a witness statement gained at the scene, the Chevy driver appeared to be slumped over prior to striking the first vehicle.
The driver of the F150’s left arm was injured, and he was transported to the hospital for additional treatment. The adult female drivers of the other two vehicles stated they were uninjured.
SIRT Team volunteers responded to the scene to assist with traffic control, freeing up Deputies to respond to call for service. Eastbound Sprague from Fancher, and the westbound I-90 onramp from Sprague, were closed for several hours during the investigation. The roadway was reopened after 8:00 pm.
This incident remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decadent, along with cause and manner of death at a later time, when appropriate.

Four-Car Fatal Crash on Eastbound Sprague, Near the I-90 Overpass

At approximately 3:35 pm. this afternoon, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a four-vehicle crash on eastbound Sprague, east of Fancher, near the I-90 overpass.
Eastbound Sprague from Fancher is CLOSED, including the westbound I-90 onramp from Sprague. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.
Spokane Valley Traffic Unit Investigators are at the scene to investigating this incident. No further information is available at this time.
