The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is testing and accepting applications for Automotive Technicians.  This is a highly technical automotive position requiring knowledge in the repair of Sheriff’s Office vehicles and equipment.  

 

Closing Date: February 19, 2021, 12:00 PM

 

Written Exam: Wednesday, February 24, 2021, beginning at 8:30 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Training Center, 6011 N. Chase Rd., Newman Lake, WA 99025

 

Oral Board Interviews: The afternoon of February 24, 2021. *Specific times for oral board interviews will be set during the written exam.

 

**Upon receipt of a complete application, all applicants will be sent an Automotive Technician Supplemental Questionnaire. This questionnaire will be due back to Civil Service by the date of the written exam.

 

Pay: $19.20 - $25.91 Hourly, $39,939.12 - $53,891.76 Annually

 

TOTAL COMPENSATION: $49,374.74-$66,279.94 annually. Total compensation is an estimate based upon base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates (including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and leave). The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be a citizen of the United States of America or a lawful permanent resident who can read and write the English language; high school graduate or equivalent, and a degree from an accredited college in automotive repair or related field and have at least three (3) years full-time professional experience in repair service of maintenance of automobiles, light trucks and equipment; OR have completed a recognized mechanics apprenticeship program and have at least three (3) years full-time professional experience in repair service and maintenance of automobiles, light trucks and equipment; OR ten (10) years full-time experience in repair service of maintenance of automobiles, light trucks and equipment. Must furnish own basic mechanic's hand tools. Physical strength and agility necessary to perform duties.

 

Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment and maintain it throughout employment.
