Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Shooting in Medical Lake

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives are investigating an early morning shooting of an adult male.  The victim was transported to a hospital by a private party with possible life-threatening wounds.  An adult male who fired the shots was detained by arriving Deputies.

On August 27, 2030, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of N. Howard St. in Medical Lake.

Arriving Deputies learned the victim wasn’t at the scene and was being transported to the hospital by unknown person(s).

They contacted the male who admitted he shot the victim but stated he shot in self-defense.  He was detained as the investigation continued.

An adult female, who appears to also be involved in this incident, is also being interviewed.

The victim is in serious condition as he continues to be treated, and his wounds are evaluated.

Major Crimes Detective responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and process the scene for evidence with the assistance of Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit personnel.

At this time, due to conflicting information from the parties involved, no one has been arrested.  However, investigators believe they have contacted everyone involved with this incident.  This shooting does not appear to be random, and there is no apparent threat or danger to the public stemming from this early morning incident.

Once additional information is learned, an update will be provided.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10113163.
