Stabbing on N. Cherry, Victim Sustained Life-Threatening Injuries

Spokane Valley Major Crime Detectives are at the scene of an early morning stabbing that left the victim fighting for his life.  The suspect, who is known to the victim, fled on foot and has not been located.

On July 30, 2020, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a stabbing in the 2700 block of N. Cherry St. in Spokane Valley.

Multiple callers stated an adult male had been stabbed outside near one of the apartment buildings and needed medical assistance.

Deputies arrived within minutes, along with Spokane Valley Fire and AMR personnel.  The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Initial information indicates the adult male suspect and victim are known to each other, and this does not appear to be a random incident.

The suspect fled on foot prior to the arrival of Deputies, and a perimeter was quickly established.  A K9 Team and Spokane Regional Air Support Unit Air 1 was requested to aid in searching for the suspect, but he was not located.

Major Crimes Detectives and Forensic Unit personnel will remain at the scene for most of the day, as they collect evidence and interview witnesses.

A short section of N. Cherry St., adjacent to the crime scene is closed, and S.I.R.T. Team volunteers are assisting with traffic control.

Investigators do not believe there is any threat to the public stemming from this incident, as it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
