Fatal Crash East of Deer Park

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Traffic Collision Investigators responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of W. Montgomery Rd. and N. Short Rd. just before 9:00 p.m. last night.  The driver of one vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The second driver was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be severe and possibly life-threatening injuries.

On June 11, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a crash near Montgomery and Short.  While responding to the scene, Deputies were advised one of the drivers, an adult female, was severely injured, and passersby were beginning CPR.

Fire/medical personnel arrived at the scene and took over lifesaving efforts and provided medical attention to the other involved driver, an adult male, who was severely injured.  A short time later, the female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The male was transported to a hospital with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries.

With no actual witnesses, evidence at the scene indicates, the male driver was traveling west on Montgomery in a green Chevrolet pickup truck and failed to stop at the stop sign displayed at the intersection of Short Road.  The truck slammed into a white Chevrolet Trailblazer, traveling south on Short, driven by the female driver.

Traffic Collision Investigators were called to the scene to continue the investigation.

SIRT Team volunteers also responded to provide traffic control.

This investigation continues, but at this time, impairment and speed do not appear to be a factor in this fatal crash.
