GreenZone.JPG

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Green Zone, Spokane's free demonstration site for environmentally sustainable practices Wednesday, September 21 from 4pm-6pm. Learn about composting, raised bed gardening, backyard wildlife, and more! Help plant a tree, win prizes and enjoy refreshments!

The Green Zone is an outdoor public learning center that made its debut at the 1996 Spokane County Interstate Fair. Located on a two-acre parcel between the Spokane Conservation District and the WSU-Spokane County Extension Office at 222 North Havana Street, the permanent location was decided on in 1997.

The WSU-Spokane County Extension Office houses several offices, including the Master Gardener Clinic, which offers an Indoor Resource Center and Master Gardener volunteers to assist with plant care and pest management issues.

The hours for the Indoor Resource Center and the Master Gardener Clinic can vary seasonally and are typically Monday - Thursday from 9am-3pm, and Friday from 9am-1pm. It is best to call ahead at 477-2048. Questions about the Green Zone can be directed to Stacey Selcho at 535-7274 ext. 217 or [email protected].
