[ARCHIVED] Serious Injury Auto/Pedestrian Collision on Barker Road

UPDATE: At approximately 11:30 a.m., medical staff informed investigators the pedestrian unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

This morning at approximate 7:25 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a serious auto/pedestrian collision on Barker Road at Boone Avenue in Spokane Valley.

Deputies learned an elderly female was crossing Barker Road as she walked westbound on Boone when she was struck by a vehicle driven by an adult female traveling south.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and was immediately transported to a local hospital.

Spokane Valley Traffic Collision Technicians were called to the scene to continue the investigation. At this time, investigators do not believe impairment is a factor.

The driver of the vehicle has not been charged at this time but this is an active, ongoing investigation as detectives continue to process the scene for evidence and interview witnesses.

Anyone who witnessed this incident and has not been contacted by investigators is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
