[ARCHIVED] Months’ Long Investigation Ends with Suspect Arrested Judge Sets Bond at over 1 Million Dollars

Spokane Valley and Spokane County Sheriff’s Investigative Task Force Detectives (ITF) arrested 37-year-old Peter G. Reuteler for multiple counts of Identity Theft 1st Degree, Identity Theft 2nd Degree, Theft 1st and 2nd Degree and Theft of Rental/Leased Property. During his court appearance last week, Judge Sypolt set Reuteler’s bond at over 1 million dollars.

ITF Detective Scott Bonney began looking into a reported identity theft due to a fraudulent tax return of the first victim back in February of 2016. During this long and extensive investigation, Detective Bonney identified 30 victims (16 businesses, 14 individuals) in multiple states.

Detective Bonney charged Reuteler with a total of 71 charges (60 felonies & 11 misdemeanors) of Identity Theft 1st and 2nd Degree, Forgery, Financial Fraud, Theft of Rental or Leased Property, Theft in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Degrees and Possession of Another’s Identification. During Reuteler’s first appearance last week, Judge Sypolt set his bond at 1 million dollars.
