Motorcycle Crash Leaves One in Serious Condition, One in Satisfactory Condition

Spokane Valley Deputies and Traffic Unit Investigators respond to a one vehicle, motorcycle crash near the intersection of N. Park Rd. and E. Rutter Ave. in Spokane Valley.  Both riders were transported to the hospital where the driver is listed in serious condition and the passenger is listed in satisfactory condition.

On April 6, 2019, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a motorcycle crash with two adult riders.  One person was said to be conscious; the other was not.

Once Deputies arrived at the scene, they learned both riders sustained severe injuries, and Traffic Unit Investigators were requested.

Initial information gained at the scene indicates the motorcycle, with a male driver and female passenger, had been traveling west on an access road just south of the railroad tracks.  During that time, the motorcycle started to leak oil, possibly damaged while traveling over the rough terrain.

The driver turned north on Park Rd., crossed the railroad tracks and appeared to lose control as the rear tire became covered in the oil leaking from the engine, slamming both riders to the pavement.  Both were wearing helmets.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, both riders were transported to the hospital for treatment.  As of this morning, the driver was listed in serious condition, and the passenger was listed in satisfactory condition.

With indications impairment was involved, a search warrant for a blood sample from the driver was obtained.

No charges have been filed in this active investigation but are possible in the future.
