Boyfriend Arrested after Stabbing his Girlfriend
Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives, investigating a stabbing on N. Hardesty Rd. in North Spokane County, arrested 40-year-old Aaron J. Lahde, the boyfriend of the victim, for Assault 1st Degree and booked him into jail.
On March 18, 2019, just after 9:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to two residences located on the same property in the 17600 block of N. Hardesty Rd. for the report of a stabbing.
The caller reported an unknown male had stabbed the victim with an 18-inch knife. Arriving Deputies contacted the 35-year-old female victim who had been bleeding profusely from her leg. She was uncooperative and did not want to talk with Deputies.
Initially, the victim stated she was riding a bicycle out on the road when an unknown male jumped out and tried to take her bike and when she resisted, he stabbed her and ran away. She explained it was too dark to see her attacker and she could not provide any further information.
Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. During that time, it was discovered Lahde could be heard in the background during the 911 call stating, “I did this. I’m going to go to prison.”
The victim remained uncooperative throughout the investigation stating she’s not a “snitch”.
Lahde originally said some friends of the victim were visiting with her in another room. He heard the victim scream, and when he went to investigate, he observed them fleeing the residence.
Detective Bonney confronted Lahde advising him the evidence contradicted Lahde’s story. During the interview, Lahde confessed to stabbing the victim in the leg with a very large knife after they began fighting about a text he received from another girl. He explained that when the victim became angry and approached him, while he was seated in a chair, he pulled a knife from under the seat and stabbed the victim in the leg.
Lahde was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree (DV). After his court hearing today, his bond was set at $30,000.
The victim was transported to a hospital and received medical attention for her wound but continued to be uncooperative with investigators.
