UPDATE: Citizen’s Tip Leads to Stabbing Suspect’s Motorhome and Arrest – Victim in Stable Condition
As of this morning, the 52-year-old victim from last night's stabbing in the 5200 block of E. Sprague remains hospitalized, and is listed in stable condition.
The suspect, 62-year-oldTerry L. Rance, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree, after the conclusion of his interview.
Investigators learned the victim and Rance began arguing about a female friend (all transient), which quickly escalated. The victim said Rance sprayed him with mace/pepper spray and stabbed him in the chest, before fleeing the area.
At approximately 8:40 pm., 40 minutes after Detectives asked our community for assistance, locating Rance or his 1978 motorhome, an alert citizen called 911 and reported Rance’s motorhome was parked near Eastern and Broadway. Deputies and Detectives responded to the area, located the motorhome, and took Rance into custody without incident.
During an interview, Rance admitted to spraying the victim with pepper spray but denied stabbing him.
