Detectives Seek Additional Victims/Witnesses of Suspect Following/Grabbing Young Females
Spokane Valley Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) Detectives are investigating reports of a suspect following, grabbing and taking video of young females at stores. Investigators believe there are potential victims who have not yet reported this activity and are encouraging potential victims to come forward.
On November 5, 2018, Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Richey began following up on reports of a strange male who had reportedly been following, recording and in some instances, grabbing young females at the Spokane Valley Wal Mart located at 15727 E. Broadway in Spokane Valley.
One of the reported incidents occurred on November 1, 2018, where the suspect approached a 12-year-old female and her sister as they were looking at toys. The male, later identified as 29-year-old Michael A. Streeter, was holding a cell phone in his hand and appeared to be recording the young girls. Streeter reached with his other hand grabbing the 12-year-old victim’s buttocks. Frightened, the girls ran away and told their mom who was a couple aisles away.
The incident was immediately reported to the store loss prevention and Spokane Valley Deputies who responded to the store to investigate.
During the investigation, it was learned a similar incident had occurred where a male followed a mother and her two daughters (15 & 20 years old) through the store. He was holding a phone in his hand and would move so close to them it caused them to fear for their safety and leave the store.
The mother noticed the same male in the store a couple days later and she took photos of the male and reported the information.
Streeter was contacted at his work which is in the same general area of Wal Mart. He was immediately recognized as the suspect observed in the store surveillance video and the picture that was provided.
Streeter was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail following the interview. He is currently being held on a charge of Child Molestation 2nd Degree.
As this case continues to be investigated, Detectives believe there are additional victims or witnesses to similar incidents who have not reported the information and are releasing photos of Streeter with the hope of identifying any additional victims/witnesses.
