Domestic Violence Suspect Uses Backhoe to Causes Extensive Damage to Manufactured Home

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic violence call where the suspect used a backhoe to cause extensive damage to the victim’s manufactured home. The suspect, who is related to the victim, was booked into jail for felony malicious mischief (DV).

On September 28, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident in the 9200 block of W. Trails Rd., in west Spokane County.

Deputies learned the suspect, 53-year-old Matthew E. Forsman, became enraged after he found out a family member, who lives in a manufactured home on the same property, hit his residence with a vehicle, causing damage.  Believing the victim intentionally caused the damage to his residence, Forsman went over to his backhoe, drove it to the victim’s residence and proceeded to rip a portion of the side from the home.

The victim was not at the location at the time of the incident and was not injured.  Deputies were told, Forsman and the victim, both have severe tempers and a history of heated arguments but nothing to this extreme.

The victim did hit Forsman’s residence with a vehicle causing minimal damage but after investigating the incident, Deputies believe the victim’s actions were accidental and not intentional.

Foresman was arrested at the scene without incident.  He was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony Malicious Mischief 1st Degree (DV).
