Planning Meeting to Discuss/Plan Our Community’s Response, Priorities, and Strategies Regarding Domestic/Dating Violence,
Sexual Assault, and Stalking Crimes
Join us and our partners, City of Spokane Police Department, Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office, YWCA of Spokane and Lutheran Community Services Northwest, at this community planning meeting to discuss, develop and plan our community’s response to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking crimes.
Every year people in our community are physically, sexually and mentally abused/assaulted by spouses, partners, family members, persons of trust, and sometimes, strangers. This abuse is often about power and control and shows itself in many different ways from the obvious to the covert which can make it difficult to detect even though it may have been occurring for days, months, and even years.
This community planning meeting is an opportunity to discuss and prioritize the needs and safety of the victim while holding the offenders accountable for their crimes. Please join the discussion to help develop a coordinated community response to these abuses which have affected so many people in our community.
Spokane County STOP Formula Grant Community Planning Meeting

Every other year a community planning meeting is required during the development of the Spokane County grantees’ applications for federal funding from the Office on Violence Against Women, U. S. Department of Justice, and passed down as the Washington State STOP (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecutors) Formula Grant by the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy, Washington State Department of Commerce. Washington State has an overarching STOP Grant goal of increasing the safety of youth and adults by supporting communities in developing comprehensive and collaborative strategies to address domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and/or stalking; and to prioritize the needs and safety of victims while holding offenders accountable for their crimes.
The Spokane County Community Planning Meeting to discuss the coordinated community response to the strategies and priorities noted above for the funding period of January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2020, will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 5:45 pm until 7 pm in the Auditorium, Room 140, of the Spokane Regional Health District, 1101 West College Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201. Entrance to the building will be through the west entrance, and free parking is available in the parking lot to the west of the building.
For the time frame of January 1 through December 31, 2018, the total Spokane County allocation of funding of $73,602 is divided equally with $24,534 available to each of the three agencies: YWCA of Spokane shared with its subgrantee Lutheran Community Services Northwest; Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office; and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office shared with its subgrantee Spokane Police Department.
