Deputies and Detectives Collaborate During Expanding Investigation
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies serving arrest warrants at a North Spokane County residence ended up arresting two additional wanted suspects and observed Methamphetamine, Heroin and additional paraphernalia associated with the possession and illegal sale of drugs inside. Investigative Task Force (ITF) Detectives and members of the Spokane Regional Auto Theft Task Force continued the investigation.
On July 11, 2018, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Ennis and Deputy Alexx Bullion arrived at the residence of 29-year-old Denis A. Martynenko, located in the 19700 block of N. Hazard Rd. Martynenko, well known to law enforcement, had two confirmed misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.
As Deputy Ennis approached the door, he could see Martynenko and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Brianna D. Davidson, also well known to law enforcement, sleeping on the couch and a third subject asleep in a chair. Deputy Ennis recognized the third subject, later identified as 28-year-old Pavel Y. Filipenko, as a suspect who led Deputies on a pursuit in Davidson’s vehicle and located by K9 Enzo after he abandoned the vehicle in the driveway of the residence, fleeing on foot. Deputy Ennis also noticed drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash on a coffee table next to the couch.
Martynenko answered the door and was taken into custody for his warrants. Believing Davidson also had a warrant for her arrest, the Deputies asked her to step outside. She was detained and later arrested for misdemeanor warrants. Filipenko originally provided a false name but Deputies quickly learned his true identity and arrested him for a felony warrant.
Both Martynenko and Davidson asked Deputies to retrieve property (cell phone and shoes) inside the residence before going to jail and both granted permission for Deputies to enter the residence to retrieve the property. As Deputy Ennis reached for the phone on the coffee table, he observed digital scales and what he believed to be plastic baggies containing Methamphetamine and Heroin. Due to this observation, Deputy Ennis stopped and backed out of the residence.
A search warrant for the residence was requested and the investigation was turned over to ITF Detectives and the Spokane Regional Auto Theft Task Force. The search warrant was granted and later amended to include evidence of stolen property and identity theft.
Detectives remained at the scene and seized a large amount of evidence. Detectives continue to work this investigation and additional charges are expected.
Martynenko and Davidson were booked into the Spokane County Jail for their warrants and new charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-Heroin.
Filipenko was booked into the Spokane County Jail for his felony Washington State Department of Corrections warrant.
