[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested after Standoff in Spokane Valley

On May 15, 2016, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fight call involving males and females in the 9500 block of East 4th in Spokane Valley. It was also reported by one of the callers a guns was possibly involved.

When deputies arrived and approached the residence, arguing could be heard and a male, later identified as 36-year-old Latroy W. Allen, was observed yelling at another male and a female. Allen was holding a semi-automatic handgun which he was waiving around and pointing at the male and female as he continued to yell.

With this extremely dangerous and possibly volatile situation, deputies setup a perimeter around the residence and requested SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team to respond as it was unknown if Allen was holding the male and female against their will.

Several announcements were made over the patrol vehicle’s PA systems requesting the people inside the residence to peacefully exit but went unanswered.

After more than two hours, contact was made and the people inside the residence began to exit. Allen was taken into custody without further incident.

A total of five adults and two children were successfully removed from the residence, unharmed, including the suspect.

Allen, a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess a firearm, was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for 2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
