One Vehicle Fatality Crash on 8th near Havana

Spokane Valley Traffic Unit Investigators are at the scene of a one vehicle fatality crash in the area of 8th and Havana.  8th Avenue will be closed between Havana and Custer for approximately the next 2 or more hours while this incident is investigated.  

This morning, at approximately 8:45 a.m., reports of a one vehicle injury crash near 8th and Havana where received by 911.  Callers stated the vehicle appeared to be speeding as it traveled west on 8th Avenue.  It crossed over the eastbound lane and into a deep ditch on the south side of 8th near Havana. 

Spokane Police Officers, Spokane Valley Deputies, Spokane City Fire and Spokane Valley Fire responded to the scene.  The adult male driver, and sole occupant, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

8th Avenue between Havana and Custer will be closed for several hours as this deadly incident is investigated by Spokane Valley Traffic Collision Unit Investigators. 

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent along with the cause and manner of death when appropriate.

At this time, investigators do not know what occurred prior to this crash or what caused the driver to leave the roadway.  Anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have information regarding what occurred prior to it, is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10136998.
