[ARCHIVED] Teacher Arrested for Heroin Possession

Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 52-year-old Peter J. Nemeth at the Super 8 Motel on North Argonne in Spokane Valley for Possession of Heroin. During the incident, Nemeth stated he’s broke due to addiction, has lost everything and is currently on administrative leave from his job as an elementary school teacher for the last 25 years.

The incident began on January 3rd, 2016, just prior to 5 a.m., when Deputy Randy Watts and Deputy Riley Quine responded to the location for a noise complaint. Once at the scene, Deputy Watts received information Nemeth was selling heroin from one of the rooms. He contacted motel staff who cooperated with the deputies.

The deputies attempted to contact Nemeth at the room but were unsuccessful. The deputies left the location but a short time later received information Nemeth had returned to the motel and he was in the lobby.

The deputies returned to the location and contacted Nemeth. Nemeth agreed to talk with Deputy Watts after he was advised of his rights. When confronted with the information, Nemeth denied any knowledge but eventually admitted he made a mistake. He explained he was broke, had lost almost everything and needed money.

Nemeth consented to a search of his room where Deputy Watts observed several spoons used to melt heroin for use and hypodermic needles. Deputy Watts also seized a bag containing a brown substance believed to be heroin, digital scales, cash and baggies with what appeared to be methamphetamine residue. The brown substance was later field tested and showed a presumptive positive result for heroin.

Nemeth was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Possession of Heroin with Intent to Deliver.
