The Sewer Planning and Engineering section oversees and regulates the installation of all sewers which connect or discharge to the County's Regional Sewer System. The ongoing goal of the sewer program is the prevention and elimination of septic tanks above the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, Spokane's sole source potable water supply.
2014 Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan (CWMP)
The 2014 CWMP has the overarching goal of continuing to protect the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer by guiding Spokane County's implementation of its wastewater management program, while satisfying regulations established by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology), the Spokane Regional Health District, and other regulators. The CWMP outlines sewer program implementation steps necessary to fulfill the County's requirements per the Growth Management Act (GMA).
