Marshall Road Bridge No. 2401 Replacement

Project Information

Bridge No. 2401| County Road Project C3301
Project Type:  Bridge Replacement
Project Manager:  Michael Duke Jr., P.E.
Design Year: 2021-2022
Construction Year: 2023

Project Description

This bridge replacement is located on Marshall Road approximately 250 feet north of Cheney Spokane Road in west Spokane County, Section 01, T 24N, R 42E, WM. The existing bridge over Marshall Creek was constructed in 1960. It was found to have significant rot in the piling, damaged timber stringers, and was weight restricted.

The existing untreated timber bridge was a 20-0” long x 23’-6” wide.  The rot in the timber piling was found to be extensive, therefore new steel micro piles were installed in advance of the replacement project to minimize traffic impacts and speed up the replacement process. The new 26’-0” long x 24’-0” wide modular steel bridge was installed. The project length was maintained at approximately 150 feet with minor grading to match the bridge elevation.

Project Duration

Construction started in July of 2023 and completed in August of 2023, approximately 4 weeks. The project was funded with Spokane County Road funds with the work performed by Spokane County bridge and maintenance crews.
