Euclid Road Bridge No. 1508 Replacement

Project Information

Bridge No. 1508 | County Road Project C3275
Project Type:  Bridge Replacement
Project Manager:  Michael Duke Jr., P.E.
Design Year: 2022
Construction Year: 2023
Contractor:  N.A. Degerstrom, Inc.

Project Description

This bridge replacement is located on Euclid Road approximately ½ mile west of Hayford Road in west Spokane County, Section 01, T 25N, R 41E, WM. The existing timber multi-span bridge, which crosses over the BNSF railway, was constructed in 1921 and rebuilt in 1980 after a fire. Distress observed in the bridge during a routine safety inspection forced the closure of the bridge on June 19, 2019. This prompted the County and BNSF to work toward replacing the bridge.

The existing timber bridge was 7 spans, 103 feet long and 24 feet wide curb-to-curb.  The new bridge is 80 feet long and 33’-7” feet wide curb-to-curb and is constructed with 30” precast concrete slab girders founded on cast-in-place concrete abutments.  Approaches on both the north and south ends of the bridge were reconstructed. A temporary traffic detour was in place during construction which routed traffic to Hayford Road, Deno Road, Trails Road and Newkirk Road.

Project Duration

The bridge replacement project took approximately 6 months to complete and was opened to traffic in November of 2023 with some minor work remaining to be completed in the spring of 2024. The project was funded by BNSF and Spokane County.
