Antler Road Bridge No. 4814 Replacement

Project Information

Bridge No. 4814 | County Road Project C3265
Project Type:  Bridge Replacement
Project Manager:  Michael Duke Jr., P.E.
Design Year: 2022
Construction Year: 2023

Project Description

This bridge replacement is located on Antler Road approximately 0.90 miles east of Elk-Chattaroy Road in north Spokane County, Sections 4 and 9, T 28N, R 44E, WM. The existing bridge over Deer Creek was constructed in 1955. It was found to have significant rot in the piling, damaged timber stringers and was weight restricted.

The existing untreated timber bridge was a 17-0” long x 17’-9” wide.  The rot in the timber piling was found to only extend to the ground line, therefore the piling were cut off below the rot and steel piling sleeves were installed with new steel pile caps to support the replacement structure. A new 17’-0” long x 21’-3” wide treated timber bridge was installed. The project length was maintained at approximately 100 feet with minor grading to meet the bridge elevation.

Project Duration

Construction started in October 2023 and was completed in November 2023, taking approximately 4 weeks. The project was funded with Spokane County Road funds with the work performed by Spokane County bridge and maintenance crews.
