Bridge No. 2816 | County Road Project C3332 Project Type: Culvert Replacement Project Manager: Michael Duke Jr., P.E. Design Year: 2024 Construction Year: 2025
This culvert replacement is located on Parker Road approximately 200 feet west of Monroe Road in north Spokane County, Section 9, T 28N, R 42E, WM. The existing culvert, which conveys Dragoon Creek, was installed in 1978 and is currently showing distress and is weight restricted to 25 tons. Field inspections indicate significant damage and buckling due to corrosion and settlement in the culvert floor.
The existing culvert is a 15’-0” wide x 10’-6” tall steel arch pipe 81 feet in length, which replaced a 23’-0” timber bridge. The replacement structure is anticipated to be a large steel arch pipe supported on cast-in-place concrete spread footings. Approaches on both the east and west ends of the bridge will also be reconstructed as needed to accommodate the new structure elevation. The roadway will remain in the original location. The project footprint is anticipated to be approximately 300 feet along Parker Road, starting approximately 150 feet west of the existing culvert. A temporary traffic detour will be in place during construction.
Programmed for construction in 2025, the project is expected to take approximately 2 months to complete. Engineers will be working closely with impacted property owners, regulators, and the public to ensure a successful project. The project will be funded with Spokane County Road funds with the work performed by Spokane County bridge and maintenance crews.
