West Plains Community Park Development

On November 2nd, 2022, Spokane County Parks, Recreation & Golf (“County Parks” or “Owner”) received an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) award in the amount of $6,000,000 for the acquisition, planning, design, permitting, and development of a 10-20-acre “West Plains Community Park” site (official name TBD). On March 6th, 2023, Spokane County closed on a 10-acre parcel, Spokane County Tax Parcel No. 24181.9060 (located at 9817 W. Melville Road). The West Plains Community Park site is to be developed as a Spokane County owned and maintained community park.  The park may include traditional park features like playground(s), ball field(s), irrigated turf, and picnic shelter(s), with the final program to be determined after a consultant-led community engagement process. However, unlike Spokane County’s newer community parks (Bidwell and Prairie View), this site will not host an aquatic facility.
