"Spokane County. Near nature. Near perfect." Recreational trails are an integral part of Spokane County's quality of life and that often-used slogan. Trails can facilitate active lifestyles that eventually lead to a healthier community and those same trails also put Spokane County on the map as a destination for visitors and/or future residents. While Spokane County already has a great and growing system of recreational trails, gaps, missing links, and long dreamed about trails continue to drive improvements to the current system.
About the Regional Trail Plan
The Regional Trail Plan was first adopted by the Board of County Commissioners in 2008 after a collaborative effort that included the Inland Northwest Trails Coalition, Spokane County, the National Park Service, and other local jurisdictions. An major update to the plan was completed in 2014. The Plan lays out five "umbrella" strategies to connect Spokane County with a network of significant trails.
