Project Description
This culvert replacement is located on Blanchard Creek Road, approximately 9.5 miles east of Elk-Chattaroy Road in north Spokane County, Section 23, T 29N, R 45E, WM. The project replaced a series of four corrugated metal culverts just south of the of the intersection of Blanchard Road and Blanchard Creek Road. The culverts, which carry overflow water from Blanchard Creek, range between 30 inches and 36 inches in diameter and had passed their life expectancy.
The new structure is a precast concrete three-sided bottomless box culvert with a 12-foot wide opening and approximately 34 feet in length. It is situated approximately 17 feet south of and parallel to Blanchard Road. The profile of Blanchard Creek Road was revised to allow the installation of the structure and maximize the freeboard.
