Project Description

This culvert replacement is located on Blanchard Creek Road, approximately 9.5 miles east of Elk-Chattaroy Road in north Spokane County, Section 23, T 29N, R 45E, WM. The project will replace a series of four corrugated metal culverts just south of the of the intersection of Blanchard Road and Blanchard Creek Road. The culverts, which carry overflow water from Blanchard Creek, range between 30 inches and 36 inches in diameter and have passed their life expectancy.

The new structure will be a precast concrete three-sided bottomless box culvert with a 12-foot wide opening and approximately 34 feet in length. It will be situated approximately 17 feet south of and parallel to Blanchard Road. The profile of Blanchard Creek Road will be revised to allow the installation of the structure and maximize the freeboard. Blanchard Creek Road will be reduced to one lane during construction to provide access for the public.

Project Duration

Slated for construction in 2020, the project is expected to take approximately two months to complete. Engineers are working closely with impacted property owners, regulators, and the public to ensure a successful project. The project is federally funded through FEMA.
